«Nous étions des chats errants ;
l’École du Chat a fait de nous des chats libres !»
Créée en 1978 par Michel Cambazard, l’École du Chat est une association dont le but est de protéger et d’intégrer les chats errants dans leur cadre de vie.
Notre action consiste donc à venir en aide et à limiter la prolifération des chats errants en les faisant :
- stériliser,
- tatouer et pucer pour les identifier au fichier d’Identification des Carnivores Domestiques
Une fois ces démarches effectuées, nous faisons en sorte de trouver des familles d’adoption pour les chats les plus sociables.
Nous réintroduisons les autres dans leur milieu naturel (lorsqu’ils n’y courent pas de trop grands risques), les nourrissons et surveillons leur santé.
Ainsi, du statut de chat errant, qui n’a d’autre avenir que la fourrière et l’euthanasie, il devient chat libre, qui ne se reproduit plus et que l’on respecte en lui accordant droit de cité.
